Exploring Animal Senses at Gatineau Park

Did you know that a red squirrel can smell a pine cone buried under four metres of snow? Our JK and SK students do! They recently experienced this fascinating fact—and many more—during an engaging outdoor education program at Gatineau Park.

Led by knowledgeable Guides, our students explored how animals use their senses to survive in the wild. Through hands-on activities and observation, they gained a deeper appreciation for the natural world and its remarkable adaptations.

This trip is just one example of how Fern Hill School takes full advantage of the incredible amenities and natural surroundings in our community. We believe that learning goes far beyond the classroom, and there’s no better way to welcome the fall season than by immersing ourselves in nature.

A heartfelt thank you to the team at Gatineau Park for an unforgettable start to autumn!
