Mindfulness Yoga Session Promoting Emotional Awareness

Our JK, SK, Grade 1, and Grade 2 students participated in a classroom-based mindfulness yoga session focused on recognizing and regulating emotions.

As part of the program, each student received a small jar containing two colours of sparkles to symbolize emotions. When shaken, the sparkles swirl, representing how emotions can become heightened during times of excitement, stress, or overwhelm. Students practiced a variety of calming strategies, including mindful breathing, stretching, and quiet reflection, to observe how these strategies help the sparkles gradually settle.

The jars were sent home to allow families to add water and continue using them as a visual tool to support discussions about emotions and the practice of self-regulation strategies at home.

We thank our parents and caregivers for their ongoing support in reinforcing these essential self-regulation skills. This program was delivered by Busy Minds Education.
