Grade 2 has been exploring solids, liquids, and changes in states of matter!
We melted butter in warm water and observed it change from a solid to a liquid. When we cooled it, we were amazed to see it change back into a solid. We then churned the cream and watched as it separated into butter and buttermilk.
At Fern Hill, our science program encourages students to use the scientific method through hands-on investigations. Our Grade 2 scientists made predictions, observed changes, and used evidence to explain what they saw.
And, of course, we enjoyed tasting the butter we made on crackers!
